Austin Joynes

Managing Principal

As Managing Principal, Austin is responsible for championing the company’s purpose of transformation, understanding the goals and challenges of property owners and partnering to create bespoke solutions for their portfolios that will help them rise to the top of the industry.

With over 15 years of experience (and counting) working in apartment real estate in North America, Austin always believed in a better way to market, lease and operate residential apartment communities.  As he built award-winning teams working in leadership roles that spanned asset management, property management, marketing, leasing, Human Resources, and technology systems, he espoused this vision and has helped to grow and advise many leading and high profile firms that own and operate residential apartment communities across Canada.

Austin has had the opportunity to work with institutional clients on both sides of the 49th parallel with residential properties of all vintages and positioning. This experience on both sides of the border has allowed him to marry the depth of best practices and insights from the United States with the unique cultural and industry norms that have developed in Canada. Most recently, Austin has specialized in working with clients designing, launching and leasing new development high rise properties in major urban centres. His experience leading full-stack real estate services for industry-leading firms, and crafting operating and marketing strategies for private and institutional clients has fostered an expert understanding of renters, rental markets, operating/marketing best practices and legislative conditions affecting the apartment industry that Austin now uses to make good on the promise of transformation and disruption that Aventus makes to its clients.

Austin has a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto in Industrial Relations and Human Resources and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University. Austin is a regular speaker at industry conferences and has been featured on a number of podcasts catered to the commercial real estate industry.
